the 4th trimester
The fourth trimester is a weird time. Everything is new, everything hurts and everything is different; and I mean everything. Especially for a first time mom.
To start off there is the hormonal crash (REF). You are at a stage where you’ve almost gotten used to the pregnancy madness, the hunger, the rythym and all of a sudden everything shifts.
Addressing the physical body, birth is a huge trauma. There’s the nerve damage, the muscular strain, the shift your internal organs made to make room for the baby in the first place. And when there are complications/tears it only furthers the issues
And sometimes the best you can do is take it day by day, have a nice cry in the shower (whenever you get the chance), and try to refuel as best you can. Obviously having a support system/supportive partner makes all the difference in this case.
Mom is best when she can take care of herself and channel all remaining energy into the little one.
