Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is one of the miraculous elements of reproducing: it is nourishment, it is bonding, it is transmutation. And it is work - hard work.
Essentially a full time job, so many components of moms life goes into it: The willingness, the capacity, the physical effort, the sleepless nights;
The nature of breastmilk
Breastmilk is versatile, is adaptable, is mutable and reflects the needs of your baby each given day. The composition changes daily as your body recieves cues from your physical and non-phsyical senses interacting with your child.
Mindset
I think the most important key to producing steady milk and getting in a good rhythm for feeding is simple: it is the desire. And not just a vocal ‘yes i’ll do it’, but an internal desire to provide for your child in this specific way. Nowadays there are so many alternate choices that breastfeeding seems optional - but what if it is in fact optimal? And yes there are many cases in parenthood where this doesn’t apply and is a non-factor, but if its relevant to you, why not give it a go?
If you are having internal resistance in the process - ‘I hate doing this’, ‘i’m exhausted’ ‘this isn’t worth it’ - it will reflect in your supply. Step one to actually achieving steady supply is truly wanting to.
Diet
Cravings are simply put, your body’s needs communicating in a language you’ll understand. Sometime the craving highlights the need (what you're missing) and other times it reveals the imbalance (what you’re having too much of). And decoding these desires is an important part of understand the way your body is communicating to the command center - the you that makes decisions and takes action.
